Many Hands Fan Club

My big news this week isn’t even mine. It’s that Common Threads press is releasing a second edition of Dr. Jess Bailey’s book Many Hands Make a Quilt: Short Histories of Radical Quilting.

I was in no way paid/encouraged/asked to advertise this. It’s just that Jess is brilliant, and that if you’re getting this newsletter, I think the chance you’d like to read Many Hands is about 99%.

Beyond That.

Joke Amusan’s Embroidery work.

Louise Bourgeois, Hysterical.

Kitty Coles’ Sesame Breadcrumb Salad with Pickled Radishes (and everything else she makes).

These cakes that look like fried eggs. And this one covered with naked icing ladies.

The Dyer’s Garden put together a list of dye gardens in the UK (it’s from 2018, so check before you visit any, but still! What a resource!).

Finally, based on the popularity of last week’s link, here’s another woman and her bedsheet dress. And another (very cute) one. To keep things fresh, a tea towel top.

Spread the word. If you enjoy this newsletter, please forward it along to someone else who might.

The Photo: Tulips in Halifax Public Gardens, Nova Scotia. Taken in May, on a trip to visit my Grandpa. Both of my parents studied in Halifax, and imagining their younger selves walking through the city some 40 years ago made it feel like a town full of happy, denim-clad ghosts.
